Help Build Student Life

On February 15th SOS is putting on a new event that is focused on helping student organizations build relations between one another. This event is made to allow your organizations to meet with other orgs, and to give your orgs the chance to create working relationships with each other. We wanted to allow this opportunity to hopefully create bonds between orgs that previously did not exist, and maybe even help start ideas of co-sponsoring events to grow student life as a whole.

Nominations are Open!

The Division of Student Engagement is seeking nominations and applications for Seniors of Significance. The Seniors of Significance Award recognizes students who have excelled in scholarship, leadership, and service to the campus and community and those who have brought distinction to Lamar University. Seniors who will graduate in May, August, or December of 2022 are eligible to be considered for recognition. A senior may apply or be nominated by a student, faculty, or staff member. Seniors of Significance will receive recognition at the Toast to Leadership banquet, a graduation stole, and a commemorative gift. Honorees will also be featured on the LU website. The Bess Gentry Award and the C. Robert Kemble Award recipients will be selected from the Seniors of Significance. Recipients of these two awards will each receive $1,000. Click here to nominate a senior. The nomination form closes Thursday, February 10 at 5:00 pm.

Nominate Students or Apply for the Ann Shaw Leadership Award

The Ann Shaw Leadership Award recognizes a junior or senior student who makes significant contributions to the LU community through: - fostering a spirit of teamwork; - excellence in leadership; and - exhibiting exemplary personal ethics and integrity. Students may apply or be nominated by a student, faculty or staff member. The winner receives $1,000 and recognition at the Toast to Leadership Banquet. Submit your nominations until Tuesday, Feb. 15 at 5 pm. For more information, call 409-880-8458.

Cardinal View - LAMARdi Gras Table Registration

Cardinal View registration is now live! Register to participate in the biggest recruitment event of the spring! We encourage all departments, campus resources and student organizations to get involved and be creative because the Office of the President is sponsoring a table decoration competition. Decorate your table and show future generations what it means to be an LU Cardinal and how they can get involved.

The theme this year is Mardi Gras!

Competition Categories

  • Best Student Organization - $1000
  • Most Creative Theme - $1500
  • Best Overall - $2000

NSLP is hosting their annual Leadership Conference from 12-3 on February 5th! This is a great opportunity to get some help developing your skills as a leader on campus! You can register on LUHub up until the day of the event.

Intramurals are Back!

With the spirng semester back in full swing intramurals are coming with it! Make sure to download the IM Leagues app to create your team. Remember, you don't have to be a part of a student org to create a team. If you don't have a team you can also feel free to ask to join an existing team as well.

Intramural Volleybal:  February 4th
Outdoor Soccer: March 25th

Co-Sponsorship, First Come First Serve

Due to so many orgs taking advantage of Co-sponsorship the budget is projected to run out in the next few months. Make sure if you plan to apply for co-sponsorship to get it in ASAP! Once the budget expires your org can't apply for any funds until September 1st.
