Mission
The purpose of the Sigma Beta Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi shall be to promote excellence in and recognition of outstanding contributions to education. Kappa Delta Pi shall endeavor to maintain a high degree of professional fellowship among its members, to quicken professional growth, and to honor achievement in educational work. To these ends, it shall invite to membership persons who exhibit commendable professional qualities, worthy educational ideals, and sound scholarship, without regard to race, age, color, religion, gender or sexual identity, or disability.

Membership Benefits
1. Academic excellence (at Lamar, undergraduate students must have a 3.0 GPA and graduate students must have a 3.25 GPA)

2. A full time student (for undergraduate students, enrolled in at least 12 credit hours; 9 hours for graduate students)

3. Junior or Senior standing, with a minimum of 60 hours of completed coursework (undergrad only)

4. 6 hours of Education courses (CNDV, EDLD, PEDG, SPED) in progress or completed

Lamar Student Association is a professional organization that provides professional development while still in college. Training workshops, conferences, networking, and community engagement projects include a brief list of benefits of the organization. Members of the group acquire professional liability insurance, save money on cell phones, auto insurance, shopping, dining, travel and access to TSTA and NEA's vast resources, including valuable career information and important personal contacts. Membership in TSTA-Student Program helps you make the transition from student to professional educator. NEA's website is an excellent resource for information and networking with experienced teachers.
