Week of Welcome

August 21st through August 31st

Week of Welcome is open to all LU students! Encourage your student to get connected to campus and their peers by attending the events we're offering during WOW. If your student is living on campus, encourage them to stay on campus during WOW; if your student is commuting to campus, encourage them to stay on campus longer!
Even if your student does not think they will like the event, encourage them to stop by! By visiting even for only five minutes, they increase the liklihood of meeting a like-minded peer. 
Events this year include:

• New Student Convocation on August 21
• Ask a Card to help students find their classes on August 22, 23, and 26
• Game Show on August 22
• Headphone Disco on August 24
• Casino Night on August 26
• Hypnotist on August 27

Family Day

September 21st

Join us for Parent & Family Day on Saturday, September 21st for our game-show styled event, LU Swag, tailgating, and our LU football game vs. Texas Sourthern! You can purchase your tickets online now at lamar.edu/parents

Leadership Opportunities

LU Lead is a leadership development program open to all LU students! Thiss class meets weekly for one hour for the entire semester and promotes personal devvelopment of all students through conversations and activities, homework, and the final capstone presentation. Students who complete the course will receive a certificate and a cord for graduation.
Applications close Sunday, August 25th

ODK is a national leadership honor society that inducts new members each Fall Semester. To learn more about their application guidlines, encourage your student to visit lamar.edu/odk

Service Saturday

Whether your student loves helping others or needs to complete mandatory service hours for their program, we have service opportunities! Starting this semester, we are hosting Service Saturdays once a month and will provide transportation upon request!

December 4 through December 11 - Final Exams
December 12 - Commencement Ceremony for College of Arts & Science s and Fine Arts & Communications at 2:00 PM
December 13 -Commencement Ceremony for Colleges of Business and Engineering at 2:00 PM
December 13 -Commencement Ceremony for College of Education and Human Development at 5:00 PM
December 16 - Grades are due by 12:00 PM

Spring 2025 Ring Ceremony

April 5, 2025

Is your Cardinal graduating soon? Once your student has reached 75 credit hours they are eliigible to purchase an official LU class ring through Balfour.
On April 5th we will be hosing our inagural Ring Ceremony for Lamar Univeristy - encourage your student to be a part of this exciting event and opportunity to broadcast their accomplishments.

Theatre & Dance
