Section 1. All students in STEM fields, graduate or undergraduate, shall be eligible for membership in the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Lamar University section. To be eligible to be a member of an organization, students shall fulfill the policy on eligibility for extracurricular activities of Lamar University. "Any full-time students not on disciplinary or scholastic probation, who is officially registered, is eligible to become a candidate and/or hold student office or to represent the university in any extracurricular activity provided such student has a grade point average of at least 2.0 for both the total of college work completed at Lamar University and that of the preceding semester. For the purpose of establishing eligibility, 2 six week summer terms may count as one semester."
Section 2. In order to be regarded as a regular member of SWE with voting privileges, a student must be registered with the National Society of Women Engineers Organization.
Section 3. SWE does not and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities or operations. These activities include, but are not limited to, approval of membership, selection of committee chairs, and attendance at events.
