IEEE's core purpose is to foster technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. The purpose of the branch is to cultivate interest, skills, and connections for the advancement of technology through the past, present, and future members of IEEE.

Membership Benefits
IEEE offers opportunities to network among employers in the electrical and electronics industry through Info sessions with major companies. All Lamar University students, faculty, and staff in IEEE-designated fields (Engineering, Computer Sciences, Information Technology, Physical Sciences, Biological and Medical Sciences, Mathematics, Technical Communications, Education, Management, and Law and Policy) who are interested in the organization are eligible for membership into the organization at Lamar University/LIT.
