The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday marks the 26th anniversary of the day of service that celebrates the Civil Rights leader's life and legacy. Observed each year as "a day on, not a day off," MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities.
The Office of Global Diversity and Inclusive Excellence is organizing a service project in conjunction with the Southeast Texas Food Bank. Due to accommodations for COVID-19, registration is limited, so sign up now to reserve your spot!
DATE: Saturday January 23, 2021
TIME: 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
TO REGISTER:
• Create a volunteer profile on the SETX Food Bank website (setxfoodbank.org/get-involved/volunteer/) by January 7th.
• Be sure to add "LU office of global diversity and inclusive excellence" as one of your "volunteer groups" when creating OR editing your existing profile.
• Once you have created a profile, please send a brief email to Lauren Wilson at lschuldt@lamar.edu to confirm that your account has been created. Also, please reach out to Lauren via email if you have any questions about this process.
